About the Students Grievance Redressal Cell

As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines (Gazette notification CG-DL-E11042023-245095 dated 11 April 2023), a Students’ Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) has been constituted at Siddhant College, Ambapur with a commitment to maintain a conducive academic environment for all our students.

The SGRC aims to look into the complaints lodged by any student and redress it as per requirement. Students can reach out to SGRC with their grievances, if any, regarding academic matters related to their study in the campus through the online grievance form.

Overview & Purpose

The function of the Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) is to look into the complaints lodged by any student and judge its merit. The SGRC is also empowered to look into matters of harassment. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the department members in person or in consultation with the head of the institute.

In case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at the letterbox/suggestion box of the SGRC at the Administrative Block. Grievances may also be sent through e-mail to the head of the institute.

Scope of the SGRC

Academic Matters

  • Timely issue of duplicate Mark-sheets
  • Transfer Certificates (TC)
  • Conduct Certificates
  • Other examination-related matters

Financial Matters

  • Dues and payments for library items
  • Hostel-related payments
  • Institutional fee discrepancies

Other Matters

  • Conditions of sanitation
  • Preparation of food in canteen/mess
  • Availability of transport
  • Victimization by teachers or staff

Scholarship Issues

  • Non-payment or delay in payment of scholarships
  • Issues with UGC or government scholarship schemes

Functions of the SGRC

  • Institute provides an online portal facility where any aggrieved student may submit an application seeking redressal.
  • On receipt of an online complaint, the institution refers the complaint to the SGRC, along with its comments, within 15 days.
  • After receipt of the complaint, the SGRC fixes a date for hearing and communicates it to the aggrieved student.
  • The SGRC formally reviews cases and acts promptiy on written grievances.
  • The cell submits reports to the authority about cases attended and pending cases requiring higher guidance.
  • After resolution, the SGRC provides a signed copy of the order to the student and places it on the website for general information.

Objectives of the SGRC

To develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all stakeholders and maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere.

  • Uphold the dignity of the College by ensuring a strife-free atmosphere.
  • Promote cordial Student-Student and Student-Teacher relationships.
  • Encourage students to express grievances freely without fear of victimization.
  • Provide a Suggestion/Complaint Box for anonymous grievances.
  • Advise students to respect the rights and dignity of others.
  • Advise students to refrain from inciting others against teachers or administration.
  • Advise staff to be affectionate and not vindictive towards students.
  • Investigate the cause of grievances.
  • Ensure effectual solution to online submitted grievances.

Procedure for Lodging a Grievance

The students may feel free to put up a grievance in writing or in the format available in the admin department and drop it in boxes or fill the form online.
