About SC/ST Committee
The SC/ST Committee is established as per the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (No. 33 of 1989, dated 11.09.1989).
The Committee aims to promote the educational, social, and economic interests of students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). It is committed to ensuring protection against discrimination and providing necessary academic and institutional support wherever students experience difficulties during their academic journey.
Aim
The primary aim of the SC/ST Committee is to promote the special interests of students belonging to reserved categories and to provide focused academic, emotional, and institutional support in areas where such students may face challenges.

Functions & Responsibilities
- To address individual grievances related to academics and career guidance
- To arrange remedial classes for academically weak students in coordination with faculty
- To monitor the distribution of SC/ST reference books to beneficiaries through the library
- To monitor the distribution of SC/ST scholarships and related benefits
- To address any academic or institutional issues faced by students during their course of study
- To compile and submit statistical and compliance data related to SC/ST and BCM students to University and Government authorities as and when required
