About the SEDG Cell
In alignment with the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the institution’s commitment to inclusive education and social justice, the Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDG) Cell has been constituted to identify, support, and empower students from marginalized and under-represented sections of society.
The Cell focuses on ensuring equitable access to academic resources, institutional opportunities, and developmental support for students belonging to SC, ST, OBC, minority communities, economically weaker sections (EWS), and first-generation learners. The SEDG Cell functions as a facilitative and monitoring body to promote participation, retention, and success of disadvantaged students.
Objectives of the SEDG Cell
- To identify students belonging to socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including SC, ST, OBC, minorities, first-generation learners, and economically weaker sections.
- To provide academic, emotional, and financial support for their holistic development.
- To ensure equal participation and representation of SEDG students in all academic and co-curricular activities.
- To organize capacity-building initiatives such as mentoring, remedial coaching, soft-skills training, and career guidance programs.
- To liaise with welfare agencies and government bodies for facilitating scholarships and support schemes.
Functions of the SEDG Cell
- To maintain a confidential and updated database of students belonging to socio-economically disadvantaged groups.
- To disseminate information related to scholarships, fee waivers, freeships, and institutional support systems.
- To provide counseling, mentoring, and academic guidance to students in need.
- To coordinate with other institutional bodies such as the Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC), Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Career Guidance Cell, and IQAC to promote inclusive institutional growth.
- To submit periodic reports on activities, outcomes, and impact to the IQAC and the Principal.
