What is RTI?
The Right to Information Act, 2005 is an Act of the Parliament of India which sets out the practical regime of right to information for citizens. It was enforced on 15 June 2005.
The Act applies to all States and Union Territories of India. It includes all universities and colleges established by law made by Parliament or by State Legislature or by notification by the appropriate Government or owned, controlled or substantially financed directly or indirectly by funds provided by the Government. The primary purpose of this Act is to provide transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in the working of every public authority.
